BREAKING NEWS: Ford Offers to Buy General Motors

While our esteemed Editor-in-Chief, Suzanne Denbow, is out perusing the NY Auto Show and cooking up some of her famous spaghetti for the Ferrari folks, we received a call at RideLust headquarters with an anonymous tip that Ford has offered GM’s Board of Directors a take over of the General Motors brands for an undisclosed amount. Since our fair-haired Editor-in-Chief is doing real work we decided that, accuracy-be-damned, we better get this out even though it has not been confirmed and is quite possibly a hoax.
A deal of this type is plausible for several reasons. GM and Ford have several joint ventures, including PowerMax Ltd. to develop diesel engines as well as a deal to share hybrid platforms. The Rennaissance Center, home to GM’s headquarters, was built by Ford Motor Company in 1971 and some have suggested the Ford Family has kept its eyes on retaking the Detroit landmark.
General Motors was not available for comment. Ford Motor Company said a statement would be forthcoming before laughing and hanging up on us.
