I recently posted an article on the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 5 for the Sony PS3, because of that it felt fitting that I now introduce you to the new BRD 06 Race Car Motion Simulator. This sucker provides you with the ultimate in race simulation right down to the smoke coming off the tires (it’s an option). The simulator was designed by Ballracing Developments (BRD) in conjunction with real race car drivers with the goal of offering existing and aspiring drivers the most realistic virtual racing experience ever created.
According to BornRich.org the simulator provides drivers with:
A carbon fiber composite monocoque chassis, powder coated steel motion platform construction, Pro-ST p force-feedback steering system, F1-style carbon fiber steering wheel with an optional LCD display, F1-style gear lever paddles, custom PC, triple 24” screens and an integrated 5.1 surround sound system.
There is also a carbon fiber reinforced Nomex F1 seat and F1 show tires. This thing is so over the top it’s painful, but that doesn’t mean it’s not cool as hell. In the past I’ve had the opportunity to run a few different simulators and they’ve all been pretty good. At the end of the day though nothing compares to the actual experience of driving on a real race course regardless of what the simulator does, and or how cool they make it look. If it were me I’d just save my pennies, buy a real track car and hit the track the old fashion way.
