When you first glance at the $79,000 price tag that’s attached to Ford’s new Boss 302S Mustang you may raise an eyebrow, after all that’s big money for a car whose base model for the line starts at just over $22,000. However, once you start to break down what you’re getting for your hard earned dollar, that price really isn’t that bad. The Boss 302S is a fully prepped turnkey race car that’s ready to rock and roll in such race series as the SCCA World Challenge GTS and NASA American Iron series. Understand also that this Pony is a track only machine that comes fully equipped with a six-point FIA spec roll cage, 440 hp V8 with 390 lb-ft of torque, a six-speed manual gearbox, Recaro Hans Pro-Racer racing seat, six-point safety belt, massive Brembo brakes and a fully adjustable suspension. It’s built to do battle on the racetrack from the factory and as such, was specifically constructed to stand up to the additional rigors and abuse of constant track duty. The attached video shows the new Boss 302S undergoing some testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It’s fast, stable and from what I can tell, worth every penny.
