If you drive a 2002 to 2010 BMW 5 Series, 6 Series or 7 Series with a V8 or V12 motor, expect to hear from BMW in the very near future. The manufacturer is recalling an estimated 345,000 vehicles worldwide, to address concerns over potential issues with the braking systems. In some cases, drivers may experience a reduction in the power braking assistance provided by the vehicle, requiring additional force to slow or stop the vehicle. The problem is tied to a leak in the vacuum assist, and BMW has already prepared an inspection and repair procedure.
Specific vehicles involved in the recall are:
2002 – 2008 BMW 745i and Li, 750i and Li, 760i and Li
2007 – 2008 BMW Alpina B7
2004 – 2010 BMW 645i and 650i
2004 – 2010 BMW 545i and 550i
The recall also extends to 2003 – 2010 Rolls Royce Phantom automobiles, and Rolls Royce owners will be notified by the manufacturer separately.
