If you wanted a small, budget minded super car in the mid-1980’s there were only two choices – the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 or the BMW E30 M3. Back then cars like the Subaru STI, Mitsubishi EVO or Scion FR-S didn’t exist, so if you wanted to go fast those were your options. The 190E 2.3-16 came first, which in turn annoyed BMW thus sparking the E30 M3. By today’s standards these cars are somewhat on the slow side, but as far as looks, feel and overall driving experience, they’re simply hard to beat. Click through and watch as the guys from Motor Trend pit these two in a head to head battle to see which machine comes out on top.
