When you think about it, the entire concept of mobile transportation really isn’t that old. First we walked, then took a horse and buggy, which then evolved into the automobile. Human beings really aren’t that big on hoofing it to our destinations, so to combat that we’ve invented some wonderful machines that fly, roll and float. Over the years they’ve progressed as far as technology goes, but their basic principle has stayed the same. That is, to get us from Point A to Point B in the least amount of time possible. Right now transportation as we know it is going through a renaissance. The basic ideas remain constant but the ways in which we implement them are beginning to undergo drastic changes. Over the last month BMW Documentaries has released four short films entitled: Wherever You Want to Go, with the goal of trying to figure out what transportation will look like in the future. It’s not a question that is easily answered, but it is one that should be given some serious thought. I’d ask you to go back and watch all four films in their entirety and then post your thoughts, as I’m very curious to hear where you think the future of transportation is headed.
