BMW Documentaries: Reinventing Mobility

The technology that we’re seeing in today’s automobiles would’ve have been thought of as science fiction just 40 years ago. They are, for all intents and purposes, technological masterpieces that can now connect us to each other regardless of the distance that separates us. Satellite navigation systems tell us where to go, cellular technology allows us to talk to one another instantly, and seamless connectivity via the internet means today’s automobiles are rolling hot spots for people to communicate virtually. The problem with this is that manufacturers are trying to put forth their version of a futuristic automobile without actually asking people what they’d like to see in the future. I’ll be honest, I really love the fact that I own two cars with absolutely NO computers in them whatsoever. Sure they may not be as efficient as the cars of today, but I like the fact that no one can find me if I don’t want to be found. Car companies are now putting so much technology into automobiles that they are forgetting that for some of us, a car is still supposed to do one simple thing… it must be fun.
