Not long ago I reviewed the 2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe at Monticello Motor Club in upstate New York. It was not only compact, powerful and an absolute pisser to drive at the limit, but it hearkens back to when BMW’s M cars were all business. Some say that the M cars have lost their way, that they’ve become too soft and are now made more for the masses than the true preformance enthusiast. However after flogging the 1-Series M around the race track, I can tell you that this IS one bad ass performance coupe that is poised to take on all comers. Autocar.co.uk wanted to see just how good the 1M really was, so they rounded up the little coupes nearest competitor, the Porsche Cayman R, and pitted them against each other in a back to back road test.
