Best 240Z Ever Built?

Posted in Featured, Nissan by Dustin Driver | January 28th, 2011 | 10 Responses |

This is what happens when a skilled builder lavishes all his attention on a near-forgotten 1972 Datsun 240Z. It’s an absolutely gorgeous custom Z powered by a mean, lean, 2.0-liter turbocharged Nissan four with more than 350 horsepower. And the car is for sale. Price? Only $125,000.

The car began life as a fairly clean 1972 240 Z in the same shade of shocking ’70s green. Then master builder, fabricator, refinisher, and all-around awesome guy Jared Cullop of Knoxville, Tennessee, decided to turn it into the greatest Z-car ever.

He stripped it down to its bare bones, meticulously refinished the body to beyond-1972 factory quality, fabricated custom suspension bits, and dropped a built SR20DET Nissan mill into the engine bay.

It’s an amazing build with thousands of man-hours invested. The car features a custom stainless exhaust system, full coilover suspension, and one bad-ass built engine with a stonking-great turbo attached.

The car is absolutely perfect. And for sale. Cullop originally posted the car on teamspeed.com forums for a $125,000. Reasonable, I think, for what is essentially the ultimate 240Z. Now the car’s on eBay, current bidding at about $55,000 with the reserve unmet. What do you think? Worth the scratch? If you were swimming in cash, would it be on your wish list?

He’ll be lucky to see 40K out of that car far more 125K. Dream on buddy, you would have been better off restoring it to factory spec.
