Automobile or Smart Phone?

Car or Smart Phone

I remember as a kid that the only thing I ever wanted to do was drive. I would sit on my Grandmothers dark green rug with my HotWheels cars for hours imagining the day when I would actually get my own set of car keys. These days however it seems like that has changed and that today’s kids would rather have a smartphone as opposed to an automobile. When I was a teenager the car was the ultimate expression of freedom, nowadays though, I’m not so sure. With all the technology that’s packed into today’s smart phones we can seemingly get anything we want at a moments notice. Need a plane ticket? No problem. Looking for a good restaurant? Still no problem. Want a cab to get there? Presto! Maybe I’m just getting older and more cynical, I’m not sure. I just hope that there are still kids out there who dream of still getting a car for their 16th birthday as opposed to an iPad.

I think it is just a societal thing, with global warming and so on… Driving isn’t as encouraged anymore. We all know a car is way better.

Agreed. Out of all my nephews and nieces only one seems to really be into cars and one is mildly interested in cars (more into music.) The others could care less. But that one nephew loved the ride I gave him in my ’68 Charger.

I think every child should have the opportunity to ride in something classic and/or fast and loud before they get their license. I remember tearing up some streets and dirt roads with my cousin in his International Scout before I could drive and that’s right about when I got “the fever” so to speak. Now I can’t go one day without scanning the local craigslist for cool/fast/classic rides and you would have trouble tearing me away from my cheap old motorcycle on the weekends. She’s not too pretty and she’s not too fast, but that old thing is my favorite vehicle out of any that I have ever been in or driven myself, save for my brother in law’s WRX in the snow.

I always hear people say today’s kids would rather have a smartphone than a car but I’ve yet to see the studies confirming this.

Thing is these are two very different items that have two very different price points.

Compared too cars smartphones are cheap and it’s difficult to compare the two.

Also, I’d like to see the verbiage of the questions being asked because presentation can and does color answers.
