VIDEO OF THE DAY: Watch The 500HP Ethanol-Powered V12 Lazareth Wazuma Quad In Action

Using a supercharged BMW V12, the Lazareth quad makes a ferocious 500bhp on E-85 Ethanol. But even though it’s defined as a quad (having four wheels and all) it is shaped more like a trike, which is good news. It’s diminutive rear end keeps the preposterous amount of torque from flipping the vehicle, while the wide front track keeps all four wheels planted as you counter-steer around every corner.

Aesthetically the Lazareth is unquestionably menacing, with the twelve exposed headers purging environmentally friendly exhaust fumes from the pulsating engine. But before you assume the use of Ethanol was an environmentalist statement, think again. It’s more likely that Ethanol was used for its superior octane performance, since E-85 has an octane level between 100-105, compared to typical gasoline octane ratings of 85-93.

However, make no mistake, all this coolness will cost you a cool $283,000–meaning it’s more likely you’ll see it in the next Batman movie than in your garage.

Custom Builder Intends to Break the Nissan GT-R’s Nurburgring Time with a Turbo-V6 Camaro

001_2010camaro_fd_opt

With prices at the pump still high, turbocharged four and six cylinder engines are quickly becoming a viable performance alternative to fuel-chugging V8′s. So East Texas Muscle Cars came up with an ambitious plan:

Tune a streetable 2010 V6 Mustang to lap the Nurburgring Nordschliefe faster than the Nissan GT-R.

“We wanted to do something a little different,” says company spokesman Mike White. “We’re seeing a lot of interest in something like this for the V6 Camaros.”

GOBLIN WOLF SPYDER Body Kit Turns Your CAN-AM Into An F-16, BONUS Safety Videos Included

WolfSpyderFullSize

For all the trike-lovers out there, you’ve no doubt have already heard about the Can-Am Spyder. But have you heard of Goblin’s Wolf Spyder? It’s more than just a jet fighter body kit: it actually relocates the engine behind a driver’s seat sitting low between the front wheels, stretches out the back tire, and grants you a giant “Highway Buoy” tail fin alerting other drivers to your lonely, undersexed presence.

The kit adds $19,995 to the Spyder’s $15,449 base price and is registered as a motorcycle (or a three-wheeler in some states).

Good luck taking your driver’s test on this thing. You hit one of the cones again!

Personally, I’d go all the way and drop a few grand for a real jet thruster and bolt it on the back there where the wing is now. No sense in being subtle or safe at this point.

And speaking of safe, Can-Am would like to take this opportunity to remind you all to be careful out there, and they’ve been kind enough to leave us some highly responsible videos of their normal Spyder after the jump.

“Custom Super Choppers” Ad Slanderizes America’s Already Cruddy International Reputation, But Provides An Educational Opportunity to Elementary School Kids

Jeff Foxworthy once said of Southerners, that the reason we (I’ll say we since I’m from SC) have such bad reputations for being, well, idiots, is that “we can’t keep the most ignorant among us off the television.” And I think it’s safe to say that, on a national level, WRIGHT-CRX Enterprises, Inc. is one of those idiots making us look bad even worse to Europeans.

The people at WRIGHT-CRX, Inc. are the geniuses behind this garish attempt at motorcycle advertisement. And if gratuitous hyperbole won’t get you, the grammar will, which gave me an idea for a fun but educational family game:

Click on the above image. Print it out. Then, give it to your elementary school-aged child and tell them that for every error they find, you’ll reward them with some celery or a nice healthy apple slice. (I’m sure they could find them all, but if you encounter problems, try baiting them with M&M’s or a Snickers. You have smart kids, I’m telling you.)

For more colorful commentary, put the kids down and follow me after the jump.

Join the Wrong Way Round Campaign

Wrongway-Around-BMW

We noticed this curious picture floating around the internet recently. It’s strange, like one of those pictures you’d see on digg or reddit with 4 million hits on it. But this picture actually has a purpose behind it.

This photo is drawing attention to the Wrong Way Round campaign, a charity ride where a man named Graham Merrick will ride a BMW bike 1000km through the rough and rugged South Africa terrain in hopes of raising money and awareness of four main charities: UNICEF, Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Fund, Sentable, and Touch Africa.

Now, if you’re still wondering what the robot is all about, well, I’ll explain that, too.

The Magical Modular Design of the Boxer SSR

Posted in Motorcycle, Sportbikes by Chris | August 6th, 2009 | 2 Responses |

boxer-ssr-naked-sport-bike

An obscure French motorcycle company named Boxer Design has this handy little model called the Boxer SSR. You may have noticed that there are two bikes in the picture above. That’s because–they are actually the same bike! (Collective gasp!) Thanks to a clever modular design technique, motorcyclists who were once confounded by having to choose between a super sexy full-fairing sportbike and a leaner, meaner naked urbanite have a viable solution in the Boxer SSR. A simple (but possibly complicated) parts-swap will have you ready to surprise all your buddies at an actual parts-swap meet.

Released in 2005, the Boxer is powered by a 997cc V-Twin mill found in previous Boxer models, and makes use of quality components typical of low production models, like Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, and Marchesini wheels. No word yet on pricing for the SSR, nor how many bikes have actually been produced.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: On an Israeli Highway, True Horse-Power is Caught On Tape!

Posted in Bizarre, Funny Videos, Videos by Chris | August 5th, 2009 | Leave a Reply |

It’s everyone’s worst nightmare: riding along the highway, minding your own business, and you reach into the floor board to retrieve a half empty Red Bull can for, oh I dunno, not long–10 to 20 seconds at most–enough time to miss the trio of runaway horses galloping towards you!

Picture 1

This amazing video was taken in Northern Israel by tourists who were understandably hypnotized by the wild animals trotting along side their vehicle, when suddenly one of the horses pulverizes an oncoming car. According to local news sources, the driver of the crushed car survived with minor cuts from the broken glass. And after watching the video, it’s amazing that there weren’t more injuries.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: 806HP Koenigsegg CCR Evolution At The Drag Strip

Posted in Exotic Cars, Expensive Cars, Fast Cars, General, Horsepower, Racing, Videos by Chris | August 4th, 2009 | Leave a Reply |

Koenigsegg-CCR-Evolution-1

Apparently, the folks over at CarScoop have some Swedish pals at SportBilen who were happy to translate the write up of their jaunt over to Mantorp Park this past weekend to attend the 2009 Action Meet racing event with the only Swedish registered Koenigsegg CCR Evolution in tow. Wondering why the Evolution is tacked on the end there? According to the Swedes, it’s because this CCR has been upgraded with the newer CCX’s 4.7L supercharged V8 engine that puts out an amazing 806 HP at 7,000 rpm AND 693 ft/lb at 5500 rpm.

On the first quarter mile pull, the CCR set a time of 12.02 seconds at 132.9 mph. But on the second attempt, they bettered their time by almost six tenths for a 11.43 second run. Unfortunately, a technical problem prevented a top speed reading.

Check the video, and some photos of the CCR in action, after the jump.

BREAKING: CASH FOR CLUNKERS Qualifying List

Despite the whirlwind of ambivalent and contradictory reports, the scuttlebutt in Washington today is that, as of now, the Car Allowance Rebate System (or CASH FOR CLUNKERS) is NOT suspended, and will be continued through the weekend.

“The program will be in place” for anyone who had been planning to make a car purchase this weekend, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told CNN. “This program appears to be a success for car buyers, car dealers, car companies and taxpayers.”

The program was signed into law June 24 and was set to run through the end of September, or whenever the $1 billion reservoir for the program runs dry–which at this point, appears to be anytime now. The House of Representatives have pushed a bill through that would allocate $2 billion of additional money for the program by borrowing from a much less urgent energy fund. The bill is awaiting the Senate’s approval.

So, if anyone out there has been considering whether or not to take advantage of government incentives, the time to act is NOW.

SEMA 2009: VIDEO of DEFENDER WORX Camaro Photo Shoot With Blond Bombshell

DSC_0406

There are going to be a proverbial ton of custom Camaros at this year’s SEMA 2009 convention. Everyone’s been almost constipated in anticipation of Chevy’s pony car returning to the streets, and now we can begin the regularity accordable any popular American muscle car–which means almost daily receiving news of some special custom and tuner model from every little father-and-son garage with a dream.

Let’s begin with the Defender Worx Camaros here. They have been working on their display models for sometime, and have just completed a professional photoshoot and posted those photos for all the fanboys at Camaro5.

So what do you guys think? Yeah, me too. The grille is a bit strange. But the wheels are cool. Yeah, the mirrors are neat, too.

Wait? You can’t see the car in that photo can you? Clumsy me. But the fact is, the hottest blond in these photo shoots is the one with the built-in dual air bags you see above you, and since Defender Worx was so kind to include clips of the dame slowly stripping down in front of the Camaro, we doubt very seriously you’ll care much about another wheel and fender job. And yes, I’m talking about the car. It seems that even they are aware that their cars are a bit boring and need ornate hood ornaments to make us look.
