Noted Genesis hawker and general ass-out hoon Rhys Millen stole the Pikes Peak 2WD time attack record for production based cars in his modified Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Millen tore up the 12.4 mile course to the 14,110-foot summit in 12 minutes, 9.397 seconds. Impressive.

Nissan 370Z Nurburgring Edition 3

Video of Nissan’s latest GT-R hot lap have cropped up on the internet. The time? A very impressive 7 minutes and 26.7 seconds. Don’t cream your jeans yet, Nissan fan-boys, the Corvette ZR-1 still wears the pants at the house of Eifel with a 7 minute 26.4 second lap time. The blokes at Porsche, who announced a 7 minute 40 second lap time in the 2010 997 GT3 yesterday, are still claiming Nissan is bluffing and can’t net a faster time than 7 minutes and 54 seconds. Clash of the axis titans!

Kia-Amanti-1-750

Five years ago if you’d asked any person at all if Hyundai would begin building quality RWD cars they would have punched you square in the eye for asking such a ludicrous question. Hyundai did just that, though, coming from behind with a junk kick — possibly the most delightful junk kick ever in recorded history.

But Kia? A RWD Kia? To use the same decidedly absurd analogy, that’s like a Mola Ram (of Temple of Doom fame) bare handed heart removal!

In a move two steps away from groveling, BMW placed 7,000 fliers on cars in employee parking lots asking those who don’t already own a BMW to please consider purchasing one. If that doesn’t work BMW is going to try 84,000 roses (a dozen for each windshield) and will likely consider standing outside employee houses in the rain holding up a boom-box blaring “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel, or something by Falco.

The 2010 Mustang’s handling has been described as ‘loose’ in more than one publication. For people with enough money to buy new tires every time they change their oil that’s fantastic, but for the rest of us who might fancy a bit of grip ‘round the corner as opposed to full opposite lock, tank-slapping smoke show (which is certainly fun in its own right) ‘loose’ is not such an exciting adjective.

Maybe Ford read all of those reviews because they announced today the release of two new suspension packages for the Mustang GT.

Green motor oil. Green as in environmentally friendly. You knew this one was coming. It’s not a bad thing, really, and by that I mean it won’t be a bad thing when it’s well established and reliable. But for right now… Well, I’m not so sure I want to pour a few quarts in any of my vehicles.

Say goodbye to lubrication via pulverized tyranasaur and hello to lubrication via bovine fat.
