I remember thinking last Sunday that the upcoming week was going to be a rough one. I had the New York International Auto Show to cover, I was taking delivery of a car and I still had loads of work to accomplish on my 1968 Dodge Charger to get it ready for the One Lap of America. Covering the NYIAS is a blast. There is a lot of walking and picture taking involved, but you also get to reconnect with a lot of industry people that you may or may not have gotten to see throughout the year.
The automotive blog-o-sphere is a pretty tight knit community and most of the journalists know each other in one way, shape or form. Rob Enaudi, the Editor-in-Chief at Cardomain.com is a good buddy of mine, so it was nice to reconnect with him at the NYIAS. As mentioned, I was supposed to take delivery of a car this week and on Thursday morning at about 8am I got the phone call I was waiting for. Parked out next to the Jacob Javits Center was a transport truck with said car in the back. Keep in mind that this was no run of the mill Toyota Corolla or Nissan Maxima, but a beautiful black Ferrari F430. I’d like to say this car will be running side by side with me in the One Lap of America, but truth be told he’ll most likely be WAAAAAAY out in front.
Once the car was off loaded I called Rob and asked him to take a ride with me back to my house in Queens to drop off the Ferrari. He was kind enough to oblige me, so I picked him up at his hotel and we went for little ride. Big thanks to Rob for taking these pics and a bit of video. I’ll be doing a full road test and review of this stellar piece of Italian machinery in the next few days, so make sure to keep an eye out.
