For years engineers have been trying to devise one vehicle that is as equally at home on land as it is on the water. Many have tried, but few have succeeded. The Amphicar, developed in 1961 was a decent try, but the fact that any overzealous wave would swamp it, made it somewhat impractical. Enter now the Gibbs Quad Ski, a vehicle that combines the off-road capabilities of a quad, with the fun and excitement of a personal watercraft. Power comes from a BMW sourced 1300cc engine that gives the Quad Ski a top speed of 45 mph on both land and sea. The only downside… The $40,000 price tag that goes along with it.
