2012 Ford Focus ST, On The Road

Posted in Corner Carvers, Ford, New Cars, Videos by Kurt Ernst | October 18th, 2010 | 2 Responses |

I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with the upcoming Ford Focus ST, but I am very interested in driving one. There’s something about the practicality of a hot hatch that appeals to me; how can you not love a car that you can drive to the grocery store, then change the wheels and tires and go autocrossing? Yes, I know it’d driven by the wrong set of wheels, and that it doesn’t come in AWD flavor, but that’s OK since it should be priced accordingly.

Up to this point, we’ve had to make do with still photos and video only, but this new footage actually shows the ST prototype on the road. The vaguely menacing background music adds nothing to the video, since we can’t hear what the car actually sounds like. I suppose it’s way too early for that, since Ford still has a lot of tweaking to do on the Focus ST before it’s launch as a 2012 model.

Eddie, I’m not anti-FWD, I just prefer RWD or AWD in my sports cars. From the handling tests I’ve seen on the Focus, it may change my mind.
