The new 2012 Ford Focus is one hell of a little car. It’s compact, has a great chassis and enough new technology packed into it to launch the space shuttle. Not that long ago I was out in sunny California putting the new Focus through its paces in the back road canyons of Los Angeles county and I’ll tell ya’, I came away thoroughly impressed. It’s got a wonderful interior, handles like a rock star and now, according to the EPA, gets a certified rating of 40 mpg or more on the highway when equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This is good news for those considering a new car as there is speculation that we may see gasoline go as high as $5.00 per gallon by the end of the summer.
Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development stated, “The all-new Focus meets that demand with great fuel economy, class-leading technologies and features, exceptional standards of craftsmanship and driving dynamics typically reserved for larger, more expensive vehicles.”
The 2012 Ford Focus when outfitted with the SFE package (Super Fuel Economy) brings together such options as 16-inch steel wheels with aero wheel covers and high-efficiency tires, active grille shutters (to help optimize aerodynamics), four-wheel disc brakes and a rear spoiler that culminate in a combined mileage rating of 28 city and 40 hwy. For those of you out there who are looking for a car that’s big on technology, style and economy well, this just may be your perfect ride.
