For those of you that have been living under an automotive rock for the last 8 years, let me let you in on a little secret – Porsche builds SUVs. Really it’s true, and with every four-wheel drive battle wagon they produce, they infuse a bit of the Porsche DNA right into their hearts. Recently Edmunds Inside Line conducted a track test of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, but before you see the numbers you should know some quick figures. First off this baby tips the scales at a hefty 4,784 pounds, so it’s no light weight. Secondly it produces 500 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque from a 4.8-liter direct-injected twin turbo V8, and third it comes equipped (as an option) with Porsche’s carbon ceramic brakes. Those are impressive features and or numbers for any vehicle, much less one that weighs 2.3 tons and can haul your family across the desert. I have no doubt that you’ll be impressed when you hit the play button, but as your watching just remember that this is an SUV and not a sports car. For some reason thinking about that just makes the video that much better.
