You might think that pitting the 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 against the 2011 BMW M3 is like bringing a knife to a gunfight, but oh how wrong you would be. The above review was conducted by Motor Trend Magazine and what I like about it is that it’s a no holds barred performance based shootout. I’ve driven the new 5.0 Mustang GT so I know first hand how good the car really is, the key however is convincing everyone else. Yes, the interior is not as luxurious as that of the M3 and yes it doesn’t say BMW on it, but from a performance standpoint, who the hell cares?
The biggest difference between the two cars actually comes down to a lifestyle choice. Some car enthusiasts will look at the Mustang and simply dismiss it because it says “Ford” on it and in the end that’s ok. A BMW is a beautiful machine that uses some of the finest materials, has superb fit and finish, while at the same time giving you great performance combined with an upscale look and feel. The Ford, while giving you great performance for your dollar, simply cannot match the BMW’s materials or luxury inspired pedigree. There are those of you that will argue with me, but know now that you’ll be wrong, so please don’t bother. What you have to understand is that while the performance numbers are VERY close, these two cars have completely different audiences.
