2011 Ford Explorer

Ladies and gentlemen here you go, these are our first photo’s of Fords 2011 Ford Explorer. Right now Kurt is dealing with the 9000 degree weather down in Florida to bring you guys a glimpse of Fords eagerly anticipated new SUV. Over the last six months Ford has been teasing us with little snippets and photo’s of their latest family mover, so to finally see it in the flesh is quite a good feeling. One thing that you’ll immediately notice about the new 2011 Ford Explorer is that it’s not nearly as hardcore as it used to be. No longer a real 4×4 it seems that the new Explorer will be more suited to taking little Timmy to soccer practice than venturing down your favorite fire road or off-road trail.

The fact of the matter is that 98% of the Explorers on the road today have never seen any kind of real off-road duty and Ford recognizes that. Over the years the Explorer has had to evolve. It’s gone from full blown SUV with good off road prowess, to more of an upscale suburbanite hauler. Take a good look at the photos and you’ll notice immediately that the new Explorer has a much more upscale look and feel. It’s bigger with smoother lines and a much more stylized front end. My guess is that Ford is going to take a shot at competing with the SUV’s that are being offered by Range Rover and Lexus. We don’t have any information yet as to what pricing will be on the new 2011 Ford Explorer but my guess is that it will be substantially higher than the outgoing 2010 model. We’ll be bringing you more photo’s and information as the day goes on, so make sure to stay tuned in.

…after all the wait and teaser shots…Ford releases an Explorer that’s closer to a mini van than an suv, with one on the ugliest looking front ends on the planet. – Good job Ford designers…..yeah, real good job.
