AHH HA!! Thanks to Allpar.com we finally get our first look at the new 2011 Dodge Charger and I have to say as a die-hard Charger enthusiast, I’m pretty damn happy with it. Now, before everyone out there gets all hot and bothered that it’s still a four door, let me just say to get over it. It’s a great car that does everything right so quit yer’ bitchin’. The most obvious thing, aside from the “I’ll kill you if you don’t move out of my way headlights”, are the old school hood call-outs, similar to those on the 1968-1970 models. You see when the Charger first debuted in 2005 there was a lot of criticism that it really didn’t pay homage to the cars of old and I can understand that. At the end of the day designers and manufacturers need to produce a car that is not only going to sell, but be practical for today’s market, which is exactly what the new Charger is.
The front end is more of a refresh than a full design and definitely comes at you with a more aggressive and even angry attitude. The hood line has deeper contours, as does the grill and sculpted fog lamp enclosures. My guess is that this is probably an R/T model as the SRT’s probably won’t be released until early 2011. The other question I have is in regards to the Ram logo on the hood. We know that Dodge is phasing this out and replacing it with the new dual stripe logo that I wrote about earlier. I’m just curious as to how and where they are going to integrate it into the front end. I’ll be honest and say that these pictures get me excited. Dodge is obviously taking into consideration the feedback it got from its customers and looks to be heading in the right direction with the new 2011 Charger. Now, if I can only get my hands on one when they come out. I’ll take a black on black SRT-8 to be parked right next to my ’68 Charger, ’69 Daytona and ’06 SRT-8 Magnum… hell, you only go around once right?
