By now you all know that GM’s all new electric plug-in, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt is poised to hit dealer showrooms by the end of the year. If you’re interested in this car than you’ve also been scouring the internet to find some real world opinions on this thing to see if it’s everything that GM has been promising us over the last few years. As luck would have it, Kurt and myself just drove a few of these little electric babies from New York City all the way back to Detroit, MI, and the result was a car that changed our perception of not only what an electric car could, but more importantly, should be. For those of you out there that read the site regularly, then you know that we here at Ridelust.com like cars that are generally powerful and hairy chested with just a hint of macho thrown in for good measure. What this means is that our expectations for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt where not exceedingly high.
Cars, like people however tend to surprise you when you’re not looking and that is exactly what happened to us after spending more than 600 miles and two full days behind the wheel of the new VOLT. Over the next few days Kurt and myself will be compiling our notes together to bring you our real world impressions of what is one of the most important cars that General Motors has ever produced. Keep in mind that this was not a simple around the block road test, but a full-on “drive it like you own it” run that opened our eyes. So here’s the deal – if you’ve got questions about the new 2011 Chevrolet VOLT post them up in the comment section and we’ll do our best to answer them for you when we do our full review. So now, with that being said, fire away!
