Over the last few years Buick has been desperately trying to change their old school Grandpa image. They insist that they’re now building us sporty cars that provide us with not only luxury, but performance as well. If for instance you decided to walk into a Buick dealership and check out the 2010 Lacrosse or the 2011 Buick Regal what you’d find are very nice automobiles. Buick really is making some very nice cars nowadays, but at the end of the day, you the consumer, still have to be comfortable enough to say, “I own a Buick”.
What you are seeing here is Buick’s first TV add for the new 2011 Buick Regal. It’s beautifully shot, touts German engineering and alludes to the fact that it can keep pace with the finest automobiles from around the world. In it’s base form the Regal will offer a 2.4-liter, 182 hp four-cylinder with a larger 220 hp turbo charged engine to be released later this year. Starting price is $26,245 and while in today’s market place those numbers are not really impressive, it does make me hope that Buick has something up their sleeve for release at a later date. A Grand National perhaps? Hell, it’s happened before and for Buick’s sake it may be a good thing if history repeats itself.
