Most of you guys know that I’m an old school Dodge guy. Back in the 1960’s Dodge created some of the greatest cars around in the form of the Charger, Challenger and Coronet. Those cars meant something to those who saw them and their iconic shapes have been able to stand the test of time. When the new Challenger was released in 2008 the public went nuts for it as it showed that Chrysler was back in the game. It could be optioned with a V6 or a choice of two wonderful HEMI V8’s. The V6 however, as everyone knows, was somewhat lackluster making only 250 hp and 250 lb-ft torque. At first those numbers may not seem too terrible, but in a car that weighed in at over 3600 lbs it meant performance numbers that were less than stellar. The 2011 Dodge Challenger will receive Chrysler’s new Pentastar V6 which is said to pump out 305 hp / 268 lb-ft torque. Those numbers are on par with that of the 2011 Ford Mustang and close to the 312 hp of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. I know that the above video is downright boring and that the tester is probably falling asleep behind the wheel, but hey, that should help get everyone excited for what is to come in 2011 right?
