The third 2010 Camaro SS to ever roll off the assembly line has been sold on eBay for an astounding $73,000, more than double the listed $30,995 MSRP. More than just an exercise in excess, the 2010 Camaro SS was auctioned on eBay as a General Motors-sanctioned fundraiser aimed at benefiting the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. The winning bidder, whose name was not announced, will be allowed to choose the color of his Camaro SS as well as request the addition of select factory installed accessories.
Initially, many were skeptical at the fund raiser’s potential for success since many agreed that the charitable endeavour alone would probably not provide sufficient motivation for the average consumer to drop $30k more than necessary on a Camaro SS. Obviously anticipating this, the Camaro SS GM chose to donate was/is/will be equipped with a V8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission, thereby ensuring it would snag the attention of the performance-hungry Camaro fanboys (because hey, no one else but a loyal enthusiast is going to buy a car sight unseen, and there’s no way in hell a true Camaro man would shell out 70k for a V6 automatic).
