Recently, photos have surfaced of the new 2010 BMW Z4 wearing nothing but the exterior molding the Ultimate Driving engineers gave it. Spotted on the set of the new upcoming Michael Douglas film, Solitary Man, this grainy shot of the 2010 Z4 was snapped by one aspiring young spy photographer while on set. While I can’t truthfully say I’m in love with it, at least BMW didn’t give it the rounded-off, Porsche-like, 6-series treatment.

The 2010 Z4’s official unveiling isn’t scheduled until December 15th, details on the new Panzer is fairly limited. What can be confirmed is that not only will the 2010 BMW Z4 share the same underpinnings as the 3-series, it’s also rumored to share many of its powertrain options too. Confirmed to be equipped with BMW’s S-Drive electro-mechanical differential, engine options for the Z4 are expected to include a 2.0L, 2.5L, 3.0L twin turbo, and – if the gods of sports car fortune smile down upon us – a 4.0L V8 from BMW’s M division.
