Forget the GT-R, the most exciting car in the stable at Nissan may be the new 370Z. The newly revised sports car has been getting all sorts of love from critics, tapped for possible hybrid duties in the near future, and now German tuner company Cobra N+ is offering a host of upgrades that, at least on the surface, put the Nismo Z to shame.
Well, at least externally anyway. The best part of the Cobra N+ 370Z package is that it doesn’t let things get too far out of hand aesthetically…and I think we all know what that means. The already potent standard Z engine itself is left alone by Cobra N+, but what you do get from them are some aerodynamic upgrades including a new front-splitter that the German company contends will offer improved down force while maintaining a precise fit (and factory look) with the original car. Carbon fiber scuff plates are available to buyers looking to continue the carbon look on the interior of the car.
In the back ,a similarly designed diffuser insert features a centrally located reflector and twin cutouts for the custom sports exhaust system culminating with a pair of 120 mm tips. Two exhaust choices are available: a conventional stainless steel system as well as an electronically-controlled active sports system which allows the driver to switch at the touch of a button, effectively keeping exhaust noise, er…beautiful exhaust note that is, to whatever level is desired.
The package also includes an exclusive lightweight 19-inch 12-spoke aluminum wheel combination from O.Z. measuring 9 inches wide up front and 10 inches in the back with a lowered sports suspension. The wheels are linked to sports springs which lower the ride of the 370Z by 30 mm. Additional coil over suspensions vary the height between 20 and 40 mm on front and rear axle.
Pricing is still forthcoming, but according to Cobra N+ the kit will be available at authorized Nissan dealers shortly. Though beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, the body modifications are thankfully subdued, and seem to actually enhance the original design of the 370Z rather than detract.
