2009 Kia Soul Selling Better than Expected

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Kia is looking at increasing production for its 2009 Kia Soul model, the boxy compact that is poised to do battle with Scion and the new Nissan Cube. Only on sale in North America for a month, Kia thinks it is on par to sell 50,000 Souls this year, which is 10,000 more than expected. Available with two inline four engines (a 1.6L making 122 HP, or a 2.0L making 142 HP) and starting under $14,000, the Soul is a compelling vehicle. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up to the Cube, Scion xB, Honda Fit, and other competitors in the price range and size class.
