Introduced at Barcelona in 2003 by the French company Motor Development International, or MDI Enterprises as they are known now, the air powered engine appears closer than ever to coming to market. The question for many is will they find a market for such unique and questionable (to some) auto?
The idea seems simple but engineers have been working on designing an engine that runs on air since the 19th century. MDI Enterprises engine runs on compressed air, has a top speed of 70 mph and a range of 125 miles. When the tanks run dry (or preferably before that happens) all you do is plug in the electric air compressor that comes with the cars purchase and allow it to refill the tanks. A fill-up takes approximately 4 hours at a cost of $2.50.
To learn more about the Compressed Air Fueled Engine and the cars designed to be driven by them take a look at the videos below.
For most movie fans the Ford Mustang Bullitt requires little introduction. Steven McQueen did all the talking when driving the badgeless beauty down the streets of San Francisco in the movie Bullitt. The latest version of the Bullitt Mustang comes closer to that classic movie car than the previous attempt, but we will let you judge for yourself with some video footage of the 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt on those very same San Francisco streets from the movie.

Australia takes the lead now in cracking down on illegal street racers. Not only do they have a national ad campaign that refers to “hoons” as having a small man-part they are trying to make up for but now they are taking their beloved transportation and crashing them for educational movies. So if you are an illegal racer in New South Wales there is always the chance that your car may get its fifteen minutes of fame and will be shown at schools and other facilities around the region.
The NSW government believes that what they are doing is just, since the illegal street racers are so willing to put others lives at risk. Thus by filming and evaluating the cars they crash from convicted street racers they will be able to educate others about the risk they are putting themselves in as well as the risk to the innocent bystander.
There are a number of concept cars being proposed by the various auto manufacturers and each comes with its own set of fuel efficiency promises. While it is never wise to take all of their promises to heart it IS okay to look forward to the potential that they promise. So with our eyes on a better tomorrow we have compiled a list of RideLustsTop 5 Fuel Efficient Cars You Cannot Have… Yet!
Number 5:
The Tesla Roadster makes our list at Number 5 as a light, all-electric, plug-in roadster that may allow your gas card to collect some dust in a drawer or to sit so long in your wallet it sticks to the leather.
The new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ARC is ready to revive the good old days of racing when your track car was also the car that got you to and from the race. The Viper SRT10 seemed ready enough for anything with its 8.4 Liter V10 pumping out 600 horses and 560 ft.lbs of torque, but the SRT gurus at Dodge thought differently. They have found the means to reduce the over-all weight of the SRT10 by 40 pounds, or 80 pounds if you buy the audio delete package, and have increased down force, improved breaking and simplified racing setup adjustments to make the Viper SRT10 ARC track ready. The race inspired Viper SRT10 ARC will be on display growling from its pedestal at the Los Angeles Auto Show that runs from Nov. 16th through the 25th.
All of the race ready provisions of the Viper SRT10 ARC are the result of and to validate the Dodge SRT core vision:
“Deliver benchmark performance at the lowest price, and deliver it with absolute integrity and credibility.”
Hyundai’s heavily anticipated Genesis Coupe concept was caught at a promotional junket fully exposed and beneath the lights. The balcony view managed by the mystery photographer gives us the first glimpse of what Hyundai is scheduled to unveil at next months LA Auto Show. The replacement for the Tiburon shares a bit of its predecessor features, enough to maybe say they are siblings, but the design of the Genesis appears more prepared to take on the other cars on the market.
Improving their chances to compete, more than even the rear-wheel drive feature, will be the two engine packages that have been discussed for Hyundai’s new coupe.
If the sight of this miniature Dukes of Hazzard General Lee with matching paint scheme on a BMW 318i does not stir up a little grin maybe watching its tribute leap will cause you to crack a smile.
While we do not recommend anyone attempting this with a car that they cherish… or own… we must commend these lads for the sheer boneheadedness of this stunt. However the boys at Top Gear may have a few angry words for you for stealing what may have been one of their future stunts.
Whether you like it, love it or hate it the Shelby Super Cars (SSC) Ultimate Aero TT is a hot topic for all. Some dispute the run alltogether despite Guinness’ involvement. Some attack the Aero TT on esthetic grounds preferring the soft, rounding design of the Bugatti Veyron. While some are simply impressed of the effort put forth by a small, independent company and its vision of producing the worlds fastest production car.
Here is what the boys at Top Gear had to say about the SCC Ultimate Aero TT:
But for some there has been enough talk already. Everyone wants some proof of what the Ultimate Aero TT can do with its 6.4 Liter V8 that is pumping out over 1000-hp.
