Unfortunately the joys of classic car ownership can sometimes be tarnished when our beloved old friends don’t behave as they should. This once beautiful 1974 Lamborghini Espada, a car that belonged to one Lorraine Schultz of Bloomfield Village, MI is a perfect example of that. Apparently Schultz’s son was in the garage of their residence and went to start the car when it somehow burst into flames. The resulting explosion not only destroyed the car, but caused severe damage to the Schultz’s home as well. Lorraine Schultz was an avid car collector and in fact started the Michigan Women’s Automotive Association. As of right now there is no news on the cause of the explosion, but fire marshals are investigating. Old cars, while wonderful to own can be finicky, so if you’re a classic car owner and are getting your old ride ready for spring, make sure you do a full check before you even attempt to turn that key.
