There are times when being 100% self-sufficient is an awesome thing. I remember back in the day when I used to run at the race track with my old race bikes. It was me, my trusty old Dodge pick-up and everything (including the bike) piled up high in the bed. Being a one stop shop meant that I relied on no one but myself and that right there was a beautiful thing. Now cars have taken over my life, but the entire concept of being self-sufficient has not been achieved yet. At first I thought I would have loved to have had another pick-up truck with a car trailer, but now, after seeing this beauty up on eBay, my tastes are changing.
How cool would it be to be able to roll up to the track in something like this, with your race car strapped down on the back? To me this would be totally bitchin’ as not only would you have a wicked cool rig, but you’d have enough space to store and haul everything you’d need. What you see here is a fully restored 1956 Chevy 8500 Series nostalgic car hauler, and hot damn if it’s not cool as hell.
The old girls got a nice 350 small block in her for power, new 18-foot bed and a cruising speed of about 55 mph. Not fast by today’s standards, but fast enough to get you from point A to point B. Personally, I would love to get my hands on a rig like this, it’s just that in Queens, NY parking this sucker may be a problem. Oh well… one can always dream.
