General Motors is already beginning to roll out self-driving technology in limited bouts with their recent announcement that pedestrian-sensing mechanisms will be rolled out with cars by 2017. The automaker is also looking to build the infrastructure needed to pass legislative challenges, teaming up with a number of other partners to built a 120 “autonomous” highway around Detroit that will include sensors so that cars can communicate with each other and the road. There have also been rumors that the massive US car maker might team up with Google to mass produce cars with Google’s self-driving technology.
